With Black Chili, a tread compound that is still based on the latest knowledge in polymer and raw material research, Continental provides the bicycle industry with a sustainable solution. Depending on the application of a tyre, the company adapts the compound formulation to the specific discipline - for road or mountain biking, time trial or downhill. How does it work? For Black Chili, Continental refines special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to produce high-performance tread compounds. Soot particles are added to these compounds, optimising their shape and surface properties.
