The Fulcrum Speed 42 wheels are taller, wider, lighter and more aerodynamic than their predecessors, to give you better performance on every ride. They feature new hubs, new spokes and new technologies from the Italian brand to delight even the most demanding riders. The new, wider rims, combined with 28mm tyres, guarantee an uncompromising high-performance combination in which aerodynamic penetration, rolling resistance and comfort are optimised.
The rims are made from resins and fibres treated to the Fulcrum specification where, unlike previous versions, a new FF100 high-modulus unidirectional fibre composite blend is used for the Speed 42 and 57.

On-board technologies
2-Way Fit: The rim's 2-Way Fit profile means it can be fitted with tubeless tyres or conventional clincher tyres. Special machining of the valve area allows the tube to be fitted with great precision, guaranteeing its stability inside the tyre. Fitting the valve for tubeless tyres is also trouble-free, with no air leaks due to uncertain positioning.
USB Ceramic Ultra Smooth Bearings: Hubs equipped with USB™ ceramic bearings (Ultra Smooth Bearings) further increase wheel smoothness and reduce weight and maintenance.
2:1 Two-to-One: When pedalling, cassette rotation can determine a loosening of the spokes on the freewheel and, as a result, reduce rim tension. The result is excessive flexing of the assembly, which inevitably leads to a loss of energy.
With its patented 2:1 Two-to-One™ Spoke Ratio, Fulcrum® has found the solution to this classic technical problem by doubling the number of spokes in critical areas.
Momag: The nipples, after being inserted into the rim through the valve hole, are "guided" to the point of engagement with the rim by means of a magnet.
AFS Axle System: The Axial Fixing System™ is the solution developed by Fulcrum® to fix the disc brake to the hub. The stress granted by the thrust zone of the release mechanism, greater than in the usual standards, makes it possible to obtain greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and powerful braking.
Cone / cup bearings: This system differs from conventional cartridge bearings in that it operates in a way that is perfectly consistent with the forces at play, the weight and the thrust coming from the frame, because the balls roll along a path positioned opposite these forces.
Asymmetrical rim: The asymmetry of the rim has been designed to improve rim tension by balancing the forces coming from the brakes and the sprocket cassette.
