Coupled with cadence, power and heart rate sensors, it will allow you to view information about your stamina, including your remaining energy level. You can also assess your strengths, focus your training on areas for improvement and prepare for the demands of a specific course. Recommended power targets help you manage your efforts along the way. Edge 1040 will also give you more information about how your body responds to workouts (tracking VO2 Max, recovery time, training load, etc.). It will also give you an automatic assessment of your recent training history and performance indicators to see if your training is effective or not.
The Garmin Edge 1040 offers suggested daily routes based on your current training load and VO2 Max. You'll also be able to download your indoor and outdoor training programs from the Garmin Connect™ app for connected devices.

The Garmin Edge 1040 will keep you informed of when to eat and hydrate. It has been designed to provide you with information on how your performance is progressing according to varying conditions such as position, bike configuration, ride time, etc.
The "Difficulty - Grit" function evaluates the level of difficulty of a route using GPS, as well as altitude data and other information. The "Flow" function measures how smooth your runs are to give you a score to beat next time.

Compatible with the Shimano Steps electric bike system, the Garmin Edge 1040 will allow you to instantly see system status messages and warnings, as well as assistance level, current speed, battery life and more.

Garmin Edge 1040 is compatible with Inreach devices, allowing you to read and respond to messages, share trip data and send interactive SOS messages. It is also compatible with Varia speed cameras and traffic lights. Detecting incidents, it will automatically send a message containing your location to pre-loaded emergency contacts.
