Description
The Zipp 61803 Ceramic Wheel Upgrade Bearing Kit is made from premium materials and precision engineered for speed. These bearing kits are manufactured and assembled in-house to ensure correct tolerances. In addition, they are made from a corrosion-resistant chrome-molybdenum-nickel superalloy, which is the highest grade of stainless steel available on the market.
The high strength and durability of the bearings allows us to use non-contact seals for the ceramic bearings. These ceramic bearings significantly reduce friction and force on the hub and freewheel. The inner cages of the bearings are made of polyamide rather than steel. Polyamide has vibration-damping properties that isolate the balls, improving operation and durability.
To upgrade a complete wheelset, you will need three kits (6 bearings): two kits (4 pieces) of 61903 bearings for the front and rear hubs and one kit (2 pieces) of 61803 bearings for the freewheel body. Alternatively, a rider could install only the two 61903 bearing kits on the hubs and enjoy most of the benefits.
Zipp ceramic bearing kits are compatible with all current Zipp hubs, rims and disc brakes: Cognition, ZR1, ZM2, 76/176, and the previous generation 77/177. The kits are not compatible with the first generation of Cognition rim brake hubs.
