Description
The WTB Trail Boss Tritec tire has been redesigned for use on wider rims. The side studs have been increased and a bigger support for the side studs has been added. The thicker studs ensure good support in all conditions. The tire design has been "opened" for more "autonomy" of each stud and better mud evacuation. The side studs have also been staggered to ensure that every second stud is always in contact with the ground when the tire is "at the limit". The centre studs are spaced apart to ensure easier breaking-in.
This tire introduces a blend of three different types of rubber called Tritec. This compound provides traction, support and durability. The three rubbers are not used uniformly throughout the design of the tire. A dense first layer provides a common base and climbs slightly into the studs to avoid excessive deformation in the tread pattern. A second, intermediate layer is positioned at the top of the central studs to ensure durability and pedalling performance. Finally, a third layer of rubber is reserved for the side studs for maximum grip, while limiting rebound effects.
